Package: lpr Version: 1:2008.05.17 Severity: normal Hello,
lpd ignores Input Filter (:if=...:) printcap setting for Remote Machine printers (:rm=...:). For local and :lp=port@host: printers the :if: works OK. Thus, if remote machine can't handle some file types it's hard to work around. Currently I use something like this: lp:lp=/dev/null:if=/filter/and/resend/to/rp.sh: rp:lp=:rm=print.server:rp=LPT1: with /filter/and/resend/to/rp.sh doing filtering and re-sending resulting output to lpr -Prp -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages lpr depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii netbase 4.45 Basic TCP/IP networking system lpr recommends no packages.
