Package: php5-common

That's simply not true. It's just the comments in the default php.ini.

The default session.save_path is modified in
debian/patches/session_save_path.patch

Could you please doublecheck using phpinfo() next time before filling a bug?

howl:/# php -v
PHP 5.3.9-5 (cli) (built: Jan 29 2012 09:27:44)
Copyright (c) 1997-2012 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2012 Zend Technologies
howl:/# php -i | grep session.save_path
session.save_path => /var/lib/php5 => /var/lib/php5

(Nothing has changed in the session handling for a very long time.)

Thanks,
Ondrej
