The commit that fixes the bug should be the one that I originally
cited, "debian: Look in /lib/modules instead of /usr/src for DKMS
kernel sources."

The commit quoted above, on top of the one I originally cited, should
only make the logs easier to read.

Simon and I are both DDs but usually Simon does the uploads (I don't
think I've ever done a Debian upload for OVS).  I guess that if you
are in a hurry you can NMU; I don't speak for Simon but I would not
object to that.
