I've done a little more testing. Interestingly, the bug does not trigger until actually connecting to a server. E.g., I can follow the procedure above, start irssi via "irssi -!" to disable connecting to channels, type special characters, detach and re-attach the screen session, still be able to type special characters, and finally connect to a server (without detaching or re-attaching the screen session), whereupon special character input becomes broken. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
