This is a mistery. :)
The file you sent is working for me.
I had a look inside /usr/lib/mc/extfs.d/uzip and there are
"my $op_has_zipinfo = 1;" - I didn't have to change it.
I run 'md5sum' against it:
f3a19a46f827c01340ea3dfec507c271 /usr/lib/mc/extfs.d/uzip
The problem is likely in your mc.ext file
(migrated to ${HOME}/.config/mc/mc.ext) where mc keep file handlers for
various extensions.
This is the only clue I have at the moment.
