Package: linux-base Version: 3.4 Severity: normal Hi,
linux-base contains /usr/bin/perf but running that gives: mrvn@frosties:~% perf /usr/bin/perf: line 24: exec: perf_3.1: not found E: linux-tools-3.1 is not installed. A Recommends: linux-tools would ensure that at least the perf_x.y for the current kernel is normally installed. I've also filed a bug against linux-tools-3.2 that there should be a more generic perf_3, in which case linux-base should recommend that.
