Hi Simon, Bernhard Link has been organizing a group of folks to take over maintaining this package.
Also, I should mention it is not primarily a library -- the main use case for singular is a command-line repl for doing mathematical calculations; the library version is only used by the sagemath software (not currently in Debian). So I'd recommend against removing the package at this time. -Tim Abbott On Sat, 3 Mar 2012, Simon McVittie wrote: > Package: singular > Version: 3-0-4-3.dfsg-3 > Severity: serious > User: debian...@lists.debian.org > Usertags: proposed-removal > > singular seems like a possible candidate for removal from Debian: > > * library with no reverse dependencies > * no maintainer upload since 2009 > * no maintainer response to an RC bug for several months > * assorted linking problems (see the patches from Mònica's attempted NMU) > > If you don't think this package is needed any more, please send the > following commands to cont...@bugs.debian.org, replacing nnnnnn with this > bug's number: > > severity nnnnnn normal > reassign nnnnnn ftp.debian.org > retitle nnnnnn RM: <packagename> -- RoM; <reasons> > thanks > > Alternatively, please keep up with fixing it. > > For more information, see > http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals > http://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt > > Regards, > smcv > > >
