The problem is that the file being create is a domain socket. Since it is not uncommon for home directories to be shared from a central file server and since the socket must be on the same file system as the application, this is a problem. Can the socket be created in /tmp/ instead? I certaintly don't mind having the config files in ~/.imms

I did find a work around of creating a symlink from the file location to a file in /tmp but it should simply be created there by imms instead.

Cheers,
mike

Hi,

Most current X programs will try to create various files in your home
directory, and do not allow you to configure the location. Even xmms
stores its settings in ~/.xmms. I don't see how this is a bug. Its
reasonable to assume you can write to your own home directory.

Thanks,

Norbert
