Thanks for pointing this! I saw similar claims on their homepage too, and did not find more in the various README files than the actual claim of the relicensing: Original GPL code was taken from Xine project (http://xine.sf.net). Relicensed to LGPL with explicit approval from all copyright holders, if you're interested, you can see thread at: <FIXME: add link to xine's mailing archives, import mails from my local mailbox> I'm happy you took the time to verify this for Ubuntu. I did a quick search in the xine-devel archive between 2004-01 and 2005-09 confirming: - the announcement of the relicensing process - confirmation that most persons, including Major MMS, and most CVS accounts owners accepted the relicensing execpt a couple of persons - the release announcement of libmms 0.1 with the claim that the software has been relicensed I'll switch the license back to LGPL.
