I use the following script to check a package more thoroughly for
lintian cleanliness.

#!/bin/sh
lintian --info -I -E --pedantic --color=auto $*

This generates an output approaching six hundred lines.
This bug will indicate some easy steps I have taken to cut that by a third.
This excludes spelling patchs, deep changes to debian/rules, man page fixes,
copyright or translations.

If all my proposals were accepted the changelog might look as follows:

  * Numerous minor changes to improve lintian cleanliness (Closes: #?????)
    * debian/control
    - Cleaning up dependency clauses
    - Improved short description of libmysqld-pic
    - Upped debhelper dependency version to 9
    - Depersonalised long description for mysql-client
    - Clarified dependency on procps
    - Removed references to version 4.1
    - Versioned Breaks clauses for mysql-common
    * debian/patches/* - refreshed and annotated patches
    * debian/rules - Added dh_lintian lines so binary overrides are deployed
    * debian/*.lintian-overrides     - Added comments: either bug
references or place holders
    - Added override for all no-upstream-changelog warnings with URL
      to online changelog
