Package: php4-spplus Version: 1.0-6 Severity: serious In the upload of version 1.0-6 of php4-spplus, I see this in the changelog:
* debian/rules: removed stupid debian/substvars modification. And, indeed, the packages no longer depend on the phpapi they were compiled with, meaning two things: a) installing only php4-spplus will not have it working (as no matching PHP interpreter will be installed first). b) if php4's phpapi is upgraded, php4-spplus will go on happily being installed, despite the fact that it won't work with the new version, causing, at the least, serious user confusion. Please reinstate the "stupid debian/substvars modification", or find some other way that you deem less "stupid" to make sure you depend on the correct phpapi-###### virtual package matching with the php4-dev you've built against. ...
