Actually, it really is a bug in tmw, due to OpenGL texture indices having random values.
It is fixed by revision 3334: http://themanaworld.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/themanaworld/tmw/trunk/src/resources/image.cpp?r1=3319&r2=3334&view=patch&pathrev=3334 So I suggest reopening the bug-report, so that it can be properly closed later, when a new tmw package is released.
