Which GIMP version are > you using? for me it segfaults every time, if the image is larger than 100x100 or so, didn't check it exactly. But with all large images I've tested it I run into a segfault. I'm using gimp and co from unstable. You can svn co https://ssl.recluse.de/svn/debian/trunk/packages/refocus/ if you want to have what's I'm working with, I've reworked a lot of stuff to make building debug packages working at all.
