There is a new attempt to make an defrag for ext2/3/4 in the works,
very early works, that will do online defragmentation. But I believe
this is so far away from being usable that it is not worth waiting
for.

I think the next generation defrag can (and probably should anyway) go
through NEW again when the time comes.
