Thanks Josh, The rules for update-rc.d are a little tricky in that the init.d file needs to off allready been removed before one can call update-rc.d. So while the upgrade works for those allready on 2.7.x it didn't in your case moving from 1.6.10, and everyone else who is moving from stable/testing to unstable. I'll have something fixed shortly.
