I remember centerim (or centericq) had the same behaviour when you want to add a new contact. The same occurs on MSN protocol. I don't think so is the same problem. When I added the contact with pidgin and after I test with centerim I can see the contact online. I think the problem for add or delete contacts should be other bug. This bug I think should be closed.
