I'm not the maintainer, but let me remark:
1) I cannot duplicate with amarok 1.4.7-1+b2 and up to date debian
unstable/testing. I tried loading my whole collection (3600 or so
songs) and searching. It might be worthing trying an update (I'm not
expert enough to read from that package list how up to date you are,
but 3 weeks is a while for unstable). Also, I would be curious if
removing all of the 'experimental' feeds would change anything.
2) In my view (but this is only the view of a random bystander!) the
bug does not meet the criteria in
http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities
for a 'serious' bug. Maybe you mean to claim 'important'?
