Perhaps I'm being defeated by the absence of any documentation for update-grub. It is most unfriendly that the careful instructions for upgrading to sarge, which discussed the disk name change issue, did not include such a notice. It is also most unfriendly that the update-grub manpage offers no documentation of the program's operation. Are these difficulties resolved in grub2?
