It looks like the FTBFS is caused by a misbehaving dpkg-source. From the
logs:

[...]
dpkg-source: extracting libvrb in libvrb-0.5.1-4
[...]

According to my best knowledge, the Debian revision number should not be
part of the build directory. On my box, it works properly:

[...]
dpkg-source: extracting libvrb in libvrb-0.5.1
[...]

Is it possible that dpkg used to rebuild the packages was buggy?
