Well, as Steve Langasek told me while closing the bug report, both
libltdl3-dev and libtool1.4 can be installed simultaneously; this was a
stupid mistake of mine when in saw that ruinning "aptitude install
libltdl3-dev" caused libtool4 to be removed. Sorry for the noise.
