Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hi all,

when upgrading hal recently I found the following on a quite up to date
sid system:

Setting up hal (0.5.12~git20090406.46dc48-1) ...
usermod: no changes
 * Reloading system message bus config...
                                      [ OK ]
 * Starting Hardware abstraction layer hald/usr/sbin/hald already running.

                                      [ OK ]
invoke-rc.d: initscript hal, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing hal (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 hal

Looks like hal was not properly shut down before configuring...

Regards Chris

exiting with 1 breaks other daemons when people have Splashy installed but
disabled for one reason or the other. Only in explicit instances when
we need splashy_update called we will return 1.
