That will indeed be the very last remaining of the FHS patches. This is the location where passdb.tdb|smbpasswd files are kept (when using tdbsam or smbpasswd as "passdb backend") as well as secrets.tdb that contains....secrets... (such as machine accounts passwords). We need to change this as this is certainly a violation of the policy...but, of course, we need to provide a mimgration path in maintainer scripts.
