I suspect the point of confusion is that, in Debian, bug severities are per-package. So this bug is marked as serious for the libtest-valgrind-perl package specifically, which is correct since the package is currently not usable with the current valgrind. It doesn't mean it's serious for the distribution as a whole in the way that I think Vincent is thinking of. It just means that we wouldn't ship this package with a Debian release were we to make one right now. Vincent, thank you very much for reading bug traffic like this!
