Current set of supported Python versions is {2.5, 2.6} and 2.6 is going to be the default soon. However, debconf still installs Python modules only for 2.4 and 2.5. If you need help with fixing this bug, don't hesitate to ask on #debian-python or debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org.
