Hi,

Indeed, the convenience copy of FFMPEG in gimp-gap 2.4.0-2 is unused, so
the bug severity can be decreased.

I had a remaining doubt in that FFMPEG is patent encumbered and I was
undecided whether of not it was OK to ship it unstripped. As it seems,
the ffmpeg source package is now distributed unstripped in debian. The
ffmpeg-debian package from stable was crippled to prevent using the
patent-covered bits, but those bits were still present.

I conclusion: I think it is wise to strip the gimp-gap package to keep
problems located in a single package. However, at the moment, it doesn't
seem necessary to take action to remove the unused patent-covered code
shipped in gimp-gap 2.4 from the archive.

Severity reduced.

Regards, Thibaut.
