Package: palo-installer
Version: 0.0.7
Severity: grave
Tags: d-i

palo-installer seems to fail when installing etch. Selections from the
logs:

+ ls -l vmlinux
ls: vmlinux: No such file or directory

+ chroot /target /sbin/palo
read: Is a directory
read: Is a directory

Apparently the kernels have stopped providing the vmlinux file that it
expected. The system has these files in /target/boot:

/target/boot # ls
System.map-2.6.8-2-64-smp  lost+found
config-2.6.8-2-64-smp      patches-2.6.8-2-64-smp
initrd.img-2.6.8-2-64-smp  vmlinux-2.6.8-2-64-smp

And this leads to it creating a bad palo.conf:

/target/boot # cat ../etc/palo.conf=20
--commandline=3D2/vmlinux root=3D/dev/sda5  HOME=3D/
--recoverykernel=3D/boot/
--init-partitioned=3D/dev/sda

Description:
 base-installer - Install the base system (udeb)
Closes: 329391
Changes:
 base-installer (1.30) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Switch i386 and ia64 to use linux-image-2.6-<foo> for
     base-installer/kernel/image-2.6. Now that debian-cd always includes these
     packages, this should be safe to do. On i386 this solves the issue of
     base-installer failing to install linux-image-2.6-686 as it is not
     on the netinst CD, and then falling back to linux-image-2.6.12-686 which
     was the previous default value. With the new default the installed system
     will properly track minor kernel revisions automatically.
   * Deal with similar issues on amd64.
   * Fix name of base-installer/kernel/linux/link_in_boot. Closes: #329391
 .
