In order to test I rebuilt the packages by removing the depends on old xorg-video-abi-* versions and setting the xserver-xorg-core depends to be unversioned. Clearly this ABI change is (at least part of) the problem. It's a shame because this means, among other things, that we cannot enjoy Gnome 3 completely. Regards, --Tom p.s.
