I found that this bug cannot be reproduced consistently. 1. Sometimes inkscape behaves as previously reported
2. Sometimes, the font size will decrease (opposite of what was reported) 3. Sometimes, inkscapes behaves correctly (no corruption of font size). Right now I don't have any idea what triggers either of the above. It seems that new drawings tend to behave correctly, and old drawings tend to trigger bugs. I have a drawing that I have been using with inkscape for months that previously edited correctly but it is now triggering this bug since last week.
