Can you get a backtrace of all threads when this happens? (Instructions at [1]. You can get to the (gdb) prompt when chromium is hanging by hitting ^C from the corresponding terminal. You'll probably want to install chromium-dbg and some other -dbg packages to make the backtrace more readable.) I can't reproduce it, but I'm using i386 instead of amd64.
