I’m afraid we’re stuck in a dead-end here. If we add the dbus_threads_init_default() call, we’re at risk of triggering other crashes, even harder to debug, as mentioned by Ray Strode. Since Banshee does not use dbus-glib in other places, we can however put calls to this function in the thread that uses GConf, right before the GConf initialisation. I don’t know how hard it would be. If that can help, I can add a convenience function (a private API hidden in #ifdef’s) to initialize GConf with this call. It’s a bit ugly but we know for sure it won’t impact anything outside Banshee. Cheers, -- .''`.
