Seems like the problem was a change in the GCC version between the first 2.2.1-8 build and the current version in Wheezy.
Patch upstream here: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/ticket/297 I'll contact Stable Release Managers in order to get a new version of openvpn ASAP.
