Breaks wouldn't help here, Replaces is what's needed.  Considering that
over 2000 people have the packages from the MATE repositories
installed[1], adding that might be a good idea.

Indeed, if a newer version gets uploaded to the MATE repositories people
tracking it will likely experience the same problem again.
