Attached is a patch that was tested on an Ubuntu system. It allows the
current sid and dapper (0.7.2-1ubuntu1) sources to build on PowerPC
with binutils 2.16.1-2ubuntu6, but not with binutils
2.16.1cvs20051117-1ubuntu1.
I fixed this bug some time ago, I was just waiting until getting qvm86
support integrated. I'll be uploading this week. Thanks for the patch
but it would not be acceptable for Debian if it does not build with
latest packages in sid, and it's not quite relevant what versions are
present in Ubuntu.

The latest binutils in sid is now 2.16.1cvs20051214-1, which should
also work. It's the version currently in etch that won't, even with
this patch. Without this patch, both versions mentioned above error
out. It was meant as a stopgap measure until you could release the next
package. If that release is imminent, there is something that I would
like to take care of beforehand: I think I have found a bug that causes
random garbage to be passed to a syscall under certain circumstances,
and I have yet to determine whether the upstream sources or the Debian
patches are at fault.
