Since Bob filed the bug I uploaded a version which ensured that VERBOSE was enabled for builds. That upload also failed on all buildds (it's unclear to me which version you tested; -1 or -2). The failure logs I see now shed a bit of light on which tests are failing (test-dry-run[1,2]) but I haven't explored much further. I do see lots of hardcoded predictable filenames in /tmp etc. which are likely to be the smoking guns, especially on buildds.
