Package: systemd Version: 215-5+b1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
On investigating why my 8GB system, which was suddenly running extremely slow and maxed out on swap, I discovered numerous systemd-logind processes hogging RAM. Specifically, 41 processes using 4278148KB (or roughly 4GB) of RAM. Here is some output from top: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 12995 root 20 0 225680 166292 2420 S 0.0 2.1 0:14.06 systemd-logind 5667 root 20 0 224688 163624 2432 S 0.0 2.0 0:13.84 systemd-logind 31144 root 20 0 224852 161556 2504 S 0.0 2.0 0:13.42 systemd-logind 22004 root 20 0 224636 159712 2432 S 0.0 2.0 0:13.07 systemd-logind 14967 root 20 0 224792 157764 2436 S 0.0 2.0 0:13.02 systemd-logind 6018 root 20 0 224992 154436 1280 S 0.0 1.9 0:12.50 systemd-logind 31566 root 20 0 224696 151508 472 S 0.0 1.9 0:12.04 systemd-logind 31147 root 20 0 224944 151476 472 S 0.0 1.9 0:11.71 systemd-logind 24258 root 20 0 224596 149364 472 S 0.0 1.9 0:11.94 systemd-logind 17167 root 20 0 223740 146520 472 S 0.0 1.8 0:11.96 systemd-logind 8042 root 20 0 226180 146064 472 S 0.0 1.8 0:11.19 systemd-logind 5745 root 20 0 224436 144844 472 S 0.0 1.8 0:10.82 systemd-logind 30731 root 20 0 226132 143892 472 S 0.0 1.8 0:11.13 systemd-logind 17787 root 20 0 225296 141248 472 S 0.0 1.8 0:10.62 systemd-logind 10778 root 20 0 226784 140192 472 S 0.0 1.7 0:10.48 systemd-logind 3833 root 20 0 224836 136792 472 S 0.0 1.7 0:12.01 systemd-logind 28360 root 20 0 225876 135676 432 S 0.0 1.7 0:09.51 systemd-logind 21306 root 20 0 224376 132348 396 S 0.0 1.6 0:09.43 systemd-logind 14373 root 20 0 226308 131128 396 S 0.0 1.6 0:08.84 systemd-logind 7366 root 20 0 226264 129052 396 S 0.0 1.6 0:08.29 systemd-logind 7686 root 20 0 224956 128876 396 S 0.0 1.6 0:08.71 systemd-logind 32107 root 20 0 225804 126628 396 S 0.0 1.6 0:08.61 systemd-logind 24770 root 20 0 221036 124732 396 S 0.0 1.5 0:08.02 systemd-logind 7294 root 20 0 225420 122576 396 S 0.0 1.5 0:08.08 systemd-logind 563 root 20 0 225000 61320 396 S 0.0 0.8 0:06.48 systemd-logind 8029 root 20 0 225604 59052 396 S 0.0 0.7 0:06.76 systemd-logind 25659 root 20 0 225888 56804 396 S 0.0 0.7 0:06.38 systemd-logind 11569 root 20 0 225864 55832 396 S 0.0 0.7 0:06.11 systemd-logind 18830 root 20 0 225756 53856 396 S 0.0 0.7 0:06.03 systemd-logind 27095 root 20 0 129840 53092 396 S 0.0 0.7 0:05.40 systemd-logind 15708 root 20 0 224724 50256 396 S 0.0 0.6 0:07.08 systemd-logind 1881 root 20 0 225116 48900 396 S 0.0 0.6 0:05.54 systemd-logind 19934 root 20 0 129712 47952 396 S 0.0 0.6 0:05.23 systemd-logind 21215 root 20 0 128344 45056 396 S 0.0 0.6 0:04.39 systemd-logind 29790 root 20 0 224892 44620 396 S 0.0 0.6 0:07.60 systemd-logind 10496 root 20 0 128672 44200 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:04.99 systemd-logind 22972 root 20 0 225700 44120 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:07.44 systemd-logind 3561 root 20 0 128432 43004 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:04.81 systemd-logind 14568 root 20 0 128336 41820 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:04.20 systemd-logind 7385 root 20 0 128072 41064 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:03.97 systemd-logind 27950 root 20 0 128240 40900 396 S 0.0 0.5 0:04.65 systemd-logind -- Package-specific info: -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages systemd depends on: ii acl 2.2.52-2 ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii initscripts 2.88dsf-53.4 ii libacl1 2.2.52-2 ii libaudit1 1:2.4-1 ii libblkid1 2.20.1-5.11 ii libc6 2.19-11 ii libcap2 1:2.24-6 ii libcap2-bin 1:2.24-6 ii libcryptsetup4 2:1.6.6-1 ii libgcrypt20 1.6.2-3 ii libkmod2 18-3 ii liblzma5 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2 ii libpam0g 1.1.8-3.1 ii libselinux1 2.3-2 ii libsystemd0 215-5+b1 ii sysv-rc 2.88dsf-53.4 ii udev 215-5+b1 ii util-linux 2.20.1-5.11 Versions of packages systemd recommends: ii dbus 1.8.8-1+b1 ii libpam-systemd 215-5+b1 Versions of packages systemd suggests: pn systemd-ui <none> -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
