Hi, Andreas, Do not worry, this is emacsen-common testing things in the wrong place and issuing a far too scary message. See [emacsen-common: emacs-package-install --preinst displays incorrect error message] https://bugs.debian.org/736062 Old emacs-package-install tests for a compat file during its invocation from dictionaries-common preinst, when the updated add-on is not yet unpacked. And at that time fixed emacsen-common (2.0.8) seems not yet installed, so old script is used. Normal dependencies will only help sorting configure stage. Note that you might see this message in other emacsen add-ons. Reassigning to emacsen-common (Hi, Rob) and forcemerging with closed #736062.
