Dear maintainer, I could reproduce exactly the same issue and error logs on a fresh Jessie install from the last release iso: `debian-8.0.0-amd64-CD-1.iso`.
I used a very standard installation process using almost all default installer value and choosing the `gnome desktop environment` option. Gdm3 starts correctly after applying jmullee's path correction in `/usr/share/gdm/greeter/autostart/caribou-autostart.desktop`. Best regards, Thomas Pierson
