Well, that I would see as erroneous appearing.

Well, believe me, it is reproducible on all firefox I have. PDF-Tools I
have installed:
- - xpdf
- - zathura

I would see that as an error too. However, pdf2djvu is the only that
have blocked me to open a pdf in firefox (iceweasle).

Where should I have a right-click-context-menu? I do not have an
application where that would match.

Well, if there is such one and that is used, then it would be good
enough for me. However, I don't see any reason for having a .desktop
file for nodisplay stuff. (Ok, there is a very special use case in
geeqie for such files.)

Well, as I told, firefox (in debian iceweasle). I do not use that many
graphical tools so I do not know others.

There is already a good working system with mailcap how to open files in
applications. That allows to configure mailcap.order. I see no real
reason why to invent the wheel again with .desktop files. However, that
might be my own view of the stuff.
