Thanks for the additional comments. So I checked what would be
affected by the removal and looks only mediawiki-math would as well to
be removed:

$ dak rm -n -R mediawiki
Will remove the following packages from unstable:

 mediawiki | 1:1.19.20+dfsg-2.3 | source, all
mediawiki-classes | 1:1.19.20+dfsg-2.3 | all
