It's very unfortunate, but when Linux 4.0 included "overlay" in the upstream kernel, the AUFS patches were dropped from Debian's kernels. There's nothing we (the Docker team) can do except say that we're very sorry for the loss of functionality, but you're going to have to switch to a different storage backend (similar to users of schroot having to switch from AUFS to overlay, etc).
