I've just gone ahead with a fakechroot upload to debian-backports (2.18-1~bpo8+1), which is about as simple as a backport can be. It also works for me on amd64, i'm hoping it will work as well on other architectures. I've published the debian packaging for the fakechroot jessie-backports branch over in my personal vcs space on alioth: git://anonscm.debian.org/git/users/dkg/fakechroot.git (and should be visible in an hour or so at:) https://anonscm.debian.org/git/users/dkg/fakechroot.git i'm happy to use a branch on the main alioth repo if you like, but that'd mean i'd need permissions in scm_fakechroot, which i don't have yet (i've just requested membership in case you want me to do that, Piotr).
