Looking at the Steve's changelog for the fix: do not pass a version script when + building executables; this is meant for libraries, and its use appears to + be breaking the build on powerpc (probably due to a toolchain regression) This reminds me of what Adam said of the problem at debconf. IIRC, doing something to executables that should only be done to libraries. I also understood that many of the executables (if not all?) that were built with the broken version of fpc would be broken. So fpcmkcfg-3.0.0 is just one of many that will crash, and avoiding the crash there is not fixing the problem.
