According to the Debian Package Tracker <https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/debdelta> this package is marked for autoremoval on the 20th of December. It's not really what I had intended when I filed this report, so in case Andrea cannot fix it by then, I have uploaded my fixes to mentors: https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/d/debdelta/debdelta_0.55+nmu1.dsc. I have also included the fixes for other bugs for which patches are available, but more importantly I have worked on getting the package to build reproducibly.
My changes can also be viewed in the bugfixes branch of this repo: https://github.com/e7appew/debdelta.git. I hope someone can review my changes and perhaps sponsor it before the 20th. Thanks, Carlos
