Tested with a new package (built by pere for sarge/debian-edu), version 249, and I dont get segfault anymore.
The original version was 238-1 from sarge I have some logfiles from running gdb, valgrind and ltrace, and slapd debug info at http://d.skolelinux.no/~finnarne/id_segfault/ I guess I'll leave them there for a month or so ...
