It hangs as before. Hmm, I tried running it on another architecture (arm) and it works fine there, runs to completion in seconds. This machine has an identical user-level environment (shell, environment settings, etc) as the i386 machines that hang. In a sid chroot on the same i396 machine it hangs on, it runs ok. diff of straces of successful and failing runs attached. -- see shy jo
