Thanks for letting me know. > We had a similar problem in the past ... #719755 > Looks like the fix for #870456 "enabled" this bug again. Hrm. Right, because it exposed the fact that the debhelper postinst fragments just weren't being run until the #870456 fix went in. > IIRC sudo-ldap at some point in the past used /etc/init.d/sudo > instead of /etc/init.d/sudo-ldap ... Sounds right. The reason we have both sudo and sudo-ldap is that the debian-installer team complained about bulking up the installer images with LDAP bits back in the day. Originally, I tried very hard to have the only difference between the two packages be what got linked in... but over time have gradually been dragged to the realization that just treating them as two separate binary packages with all that implies is a better choice. > There is even a commit I pushed some years ago in branch anbe/master: > 08a7d37 that should probably fix this, it just needs to use current > version numbers ... "1.8.21p2-2~" for the next upload. I actually hadn't ever noticed that branch in the repo. Thanks for the pointer, and the implied reminder about how to clean up the old conffile dregs. I think I've got the necessary stuff folded in for an impending 1.8.21p2-2 upload. > (not sure if any of the other commits in that branch are still > relevant) Nothing obviously useful, but if you stumble over anything that you think I should still fold in, particularly for the benefit of sudo-ldap which I just don't use myself at all, please let me know!
