Hi Andreas, Thank you for the patch and the NMU. I was actually just looking at this the other day, but never actually made a new package for it. As you note, the code in there is a bit questionable. Assigning some values to an unsigned, and then calling abs on that unsigned value is an odd thing to do. It looks like upstream's upstream's patch is to change i and c to int instead of unsigned, and I will upload a new package soon that does that.
