No ABI change is involved. Data passed from library call is now encoded in UTF-8 instead of EUCJP by the new library (or I should say the new library use new data in anthy-common in UTF-8) > Osamu, can we lower the severity of this bug so that this package can > migrate to testing? Actually, we may need to upload few manually updated packages. One package just uploaded with such manual patch by NOKUBI Takatsugu. ibus-anthy_1.5.9-2.1_amd64.changes ACCEPTED unstable So at least anthy is usable with ibus now in unstable. Are *-anthy packages uploaded to cope with this new anthy just like ibus-anthy? fcitx-anthy hime-anthy scim-anthy uim-anthy Otherwise, they are broken in unstable now. (I did not have time to test them yet) Even these are updated with manual patches, all these updated package needs to move together from unstable to testing. I am not very familiar with this ABI breaking library update. We may need to add BREAKS: to anthy to ensure this. (I am not sure) That may reqire to upload -7 for anthy. Anyway, these need to be properly coordinated. Jeremy, your guidance is highly appreciated. Osamu
