Just to add to the fun, today's upgrade of X also seemed to re-write the
/usr/X11R6/bin/X symlink. At least, I think that's how my laptop came to
contain this broken link:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/bin>ls -l X
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Apr 15 18:47 X -> ../../bin/X
