the Conflicts+Replaces need to be added to the library package, not to the -dev package. The library package contains the files that were placed in other packages, too. I'm not sure about the Ubuntu packages, in case they shipped a .so link, they should have a C+R in the -dev package too. The Debian packages should never have shipped a .so symlink. Andreas
